La Grande Church Family,
By now you are most likely well aware of the recent COVID-19 outbreaks in Union County. Monday saw an increase of 99 confirmed cases, yesterday added an additional 119, and even more are expected today. Our county now has the highest percentage of cases per population in the state of Oregon. After discussion with the church board we feel that it is best to postpone in person gatherings until further notice for the safety of our congregation and our community. We know this comes as a major disappointment for us all and feels like a step backwards, but we need to do what is necessary to take care of one another now more than ever. There is no denying that the COVID-19 coronavirus is active in our community and we currently have no way of knowing how far it has already spread. The last thing we want to do is make matters worse by not practicing an abundance of caution when it matters most.
We have been working with our internet provider to ensure our system is functional by this Sunday. A technician will be on site at the church tomorrow to run tests and do any repairs necessary. Our live steam WILL be available this Sunday so we can continue to worship together. We ask that this be our primary means of gathering together for the time being and that only those who cannot access the live stream join us for worship in person. Those who plan to join us in person will need to contact the church office prior to Sunday so that we can be prepared for your arrival. We want to keep group sizes as limited as possible so that maximum physical distancing can be maintained for everyone’s safety. Our hope is that by doing so this outbreak will be contained and our community will be able to continue moving forward. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact the church office.
Grace and peace,
